| What vaccinations
are required for my dog?
All pets are required to be up to date on rabies vaccinations
for the safety of all pets and the salon team. You must bring
your pet's vaccination records on your first
visit. If you are not able to find your pet's vaccination records
for your first visit, we can call your veterinarian for you to
confirm this information. Keep in mind, if we are not able to
confirm this information, K-9 Day Spa cannot perform any services
on your pet. There will be no exceptions!!!
Can I stay
with my pet during grooming?
Yes you can! Our salon is state-of-the-art, using only top of
the line equipment that is safe for both your pet and the salon
team. We also pride ourselves in our safe and gentle handling
techniques that all pets receive during their stay with us. You
are always welcome to see our salon, and stay with your pet anytime
you like. Please be advised, sometimes it becomes more difficult
for your pet, when their owner chooses to stay for the entire
grooming experience. Your pet will want to be on your lap, instead
of on the grooming table. To some pets, this can become a very
frustrating experience and the owner must take this into account,
if they choose to stay. We must all agree on what is best for
your pet. If that means you being there the entire time, we welcome
you to stay. If that means you have trust us to be as safe with
your pet as possible, without you in the same room, we promise
to take the best care of your pet.
What is your
appointment policy?
You can call anytime during salon hours to make an appointment
for your pet. You can call us a few days before to schedule your
appointment or if you need an appointment the same day, give us
a call and we will try our best to accommodate you. Please be
advised, we cannot guarantee same day appointments. When you call
to make your appointment, you will receive a check in and a check
out time. If you prefer to have your pet placed on a regular bathing,
grooming and styling schedule, K-9 Day Spa offers a Priority Pet
Program. On your first visit, our salon team will evaluate your
pet and create a schedule that fits your pet's individual needs.
Coat length, physical condition, age, temperament and the type
of trim style are all considered. One of our salon team members
will call you the night before to remind you of your appointment.
Priority Pets receive express check in and check out and have
the option of the same check in and check out time frame for each
appointment. Priority Pets also receive discounts on all services
offered at the K-9 Day Spa. To find out more about the Priority
Pet Program click here.
If I can't
make my appointment what do I do?
If you can't make your appointment just give us a call, and we
will gladly reschedule your appointment. Please try and cancel
your appointment within 24 hours, to allow us time to schedule
another pet in your time slot. If you are a Priority Pet and you
cancel two appointments in a row, we will have to take you off
of our Priority Pet list.
My dog just
needs his nails clipped. Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is necessary, however, if you give us a call ahead
of time we will have a station ready for your pet and a salon
team member available to assist you.
When can I
drop off and pick up my pet?
You can check in when the salon opens and your pet can stay until
the salon closes. Our hours of operation are Tuesday - Saturday,
from 8am to 6pm. Some Sundays are available, but by appointment
only. If your pet needs to stay later, it's fine - we'll be sure
your pet has been walked/watered and is resting, until you can
come pick him/her up. We also have a pick-up/drop-off service,
for an additional fee - should you not be able to get to us.
Can I send
someone else to pick up my dog?
Yes you can. When you check in, just give us the name and phone
number of the individual who will be picking up your pet. Please
be advised, if you do not let us know someone else is picking
up your pet - we will call you, before we release your pet. Our
pets are like our children - and a school would not allow your
child to be released to another individual, without their prior
knowledge.
Does my dog
have to be picked up at a certain time or can I leave him all
day?
When you make your appointment you can request a pick up time.
We will have your pet ready and waiting for you at that time.
Otherwise, our salon staff will contact you, when your pet is
ready to be picked up - to he/she does not have to stay in the
salon for the entire day.
What does the
grooming include?
We offer various bathing, grooming and styling packages along
with special a la carte services such as nail trimming, tooth
brushing, massages and even a full reiki session, from our experienced
staff. To find out more about our special packages click
here.
How often should
my pet be groomed?
Most pets SHOULD be placed on a 4 to 6 week schedule, although
some pets need to be groomed weekly. To determine the best schedule
for your pet, we must evaluated each pet on an individual basis.
Your pet's coat type, physical condition, age, temperament, type
of trim, and the life style of your pet must also be considered.
For example, if your pet spends a lot of time at the lake or in
your swimming pool, typically he/she will require a more frequent
bathing and brushing schedule to maintain the coat than a pet
that spends most of its time lounging on the sofa. Also, if your
pet has a skin disorder, that would require more frequent bathing
as well.
Do you bathe
cats?
Yes, we do and will be happy to bathe and groom your cat. Our
salon staff is experienced in handling cats - from a simple bath
and deshed, to the more complicated lion cut. Please be aware,
some cats do require two salon members to work with them - which
can increase the price of service. Once your cat is part of our
'regular' client list, we will be able to know how difficult it
is to groom your cat - which will help us schedule our staff and
time accordingly.
When should
I start getting my puppy groomed?
We recommend starting the grooming process as early as 6 weeks,
or as soon as your veterinarian recommends that it is safe to
socialize your puppy in public spaces. It is very important that
you begin this salon socialization and grooming procedures as
soon as possible to allow for your pet to become accustomed to
the salon environment and the basic grooming procedures such as
nail trimming, ear cleaning and brushing.
How long will
it take to groom my pet?
The average time frame allowed for grooming your pet varies from
2 to 4 hours, but may take longer, depending upon the size of
your pet, the amount of coat, temperament, the physical condition
and of course, the type of trim style. This time frame includes
at least one break so that your pet has time to relax in our comfortable
holding area and a chance to drink some cool water and be walked.
How much will
the bathing, grooming and styling cost?
The overall price of the grooming for your pet is determined by
such things the breed, size, temperament, physical condition,
coat condition and the type of trim style that you would like
on your pet. On your first visit with us, you will receive a personalized
evaluation of your pet with one of our salon team members to determine
your expectations and what the total cost will be. Please be advised
- your first visit may be MORE than your annual visit - if the
coat has not been maintained properly. Our salon team will let
you know if your styling cost will be reduced, once you set yourself
up on an appropriate schedule.
Do you offer
any discounts?
Yes, we offer the Priority Pet Program and Referral Awards. To
find out more about the Priority Pet Program click
here. We also are offering a First Time Special. K-9 Day Spa
has our grand opening postcards, which gives 10% OFF
of your first styling session with us. Look at your local stores/vet/dog
parks for our postcards.
Can I bring
food, toys, treats, and bedding with my dog?
Absolutely!!! The more comfortable your pets experience is, the
happier your pet will be.
Do you sell
shampoo?
Yes! We carry the full line of EQyss products. From shampoos,
to topical sprays and ointments. We also carry the SPA Lavish
Your Pet line and have all of the color enhancing shampoos and
facial scrubs. All our products are all natural and the top-of-the-line
products in this industry.
Do you sell
training equipment?
Yes! We carry all your training equipment needs. Not only are
we certified groomers, but canine behaviorists. We will be able
to assist you in any training problems you have, not only with
advise, but the proper equipment, so you fully understand how
to use the equipment you purchase.
What else do
you sell?
We have a full clothing line available for you. If you don't see
your pets size, we can order it for you. We sell custom bowls,
for your feline friend, tiny toys and the largest of large canines.
This is not only a grooming shop, but a small custom boutique
- one stop shopping, for all your needs. Finally, we are firm
believers in the RAW diet....
What is the
RAW diet?
We have been feeding our working and show line dogs RAW for over
5 years now and are firm believers of the benefits of feeding
RAW, from our own experience. We have turned many of our 'family
pet' families on to RAW as well, for the overall health of your
pet. We are distributors of OMAS PRIDE and will be more than happy
to educate you on the RAW diet, as well as offer you samples to
try. Consider yourself warned....your pet will never go back to
kibble, once you turn to the RAW diet.
Do you offer
teeth cleaning and/or brushing?
Yes we offer tooth brushing, tooth and gum treatments, and mouth
refreshers to keep your relationship with your best friend at
its loving best. However, we do not offer teeth cleaning and scaling.
Those types of procedures should be left to your pet's veterinarian.
Do you offer
flea treatments?
Yes we do. If your pet has fleas, we use an all natural product
to help eradicate the fleas on your pet and soothe your pet's
skin. We NEVER use chemical based treatments on your pet. Please
be sure you ask your groomer what pesticides are used in their
shampoos and treatments, BEFORE you allow them to give your pet
a flea treatment. Any groomer that is not willing to sit with
you and discuss any treatment, before it is given - do not allow
them to treat your pet.
Do you sedate
difficult pets?
No we do not! It is illegal for any groomer to sedate your pet.
If your pet must be sedated due to temperament or for some other
reason, you should contact your veterinarian so that he can prescribe
the proper medication for your individual pet. The veterinarian
may administer this medication or you may choose to do so. You
can stop by the veterinarian on your way or you can give this
medication at home or you can wait until you arrive at the salon.
However, keep in mind that our salon team cannot administer
this medication. Don't forget to bring a treat to put the
medication in. If you mediate your pet at the salon, there is
a chance that the actual salon time may be longer than expected.
We will not work on your pet, until we are sure the sedation has
taken affect on your pet. For the safety of your pet, you must
inform the salon team that your pet is sedated so that we can
monitor your best friend during his/her stay in the salon!
Do you provide
boarding or day care?
Yes we do! We are a private breeding kennel and do offer boarding
to our clients. We ONLY allow 5 dogs to be boarded at one time
- to ensure the quality care for your pet. We are not a high capacity
boarding kennel, nor do we choose to be. This way, your pet can
have quality time with our staff, time to go for a long walk during
the day, as well as scheduled play times - aside from their long
walk. To ensure this type of attention to your pet, we have to
keep our number of dogs at one time small. Please pre-book, well
in advance - especially on weekends/holidays. Priority Pets will
receive first choice on boarding, as well as grooming. Check in
for boarding is not before 3pm and check out is by 11am. If you
cannot pick up your pet before 11am and it is a holiday/busy weekend
- we must charge you for an additional day.
Do you offer
handstripping?
Yes, we do offer handstripping. Our team has been trained by NASH
Academy in the art of handstripping. This technique is becoming
more and more well known to the 'average pet family' for their
terriers. Handstripping is an extensive process and will take
longer than the average groom. Please let us know if you would
like your dog handstripped, so we can book you accordingly.
What does the
term 'Special Effects' mean?
The wonderful world of dog grooming is ever changing and always
working towards new techniques for the pet family to enjoy. We
offer hair coloring - which is made from a safe, all natural treatment
that washes out after several shampoos....without the harsh chemicals
that can damage their skin and hair texture. Our K-9 Day Spa logo
is of a Bichon Frise w/ a pink tail. It's a fun treatment that
can be added to your salon package for a small fee. We also offer
nail polishing. Nails can be painted a special holiday color or
just for everyday beauty! Some accessories we offer are bows for
topknots, cocker ears, or special occasions. If you request a
bow - we can fit it in our package. See our photos page - we even
put bows on short hair dogs!!! We have a wide varity of other
special effects we can do - from coat stencling, braiding with
beads, mohawks and much more....just ask!!!! As long as it's safe
for the dog, we are willing to try anything you desire......keep
in mind, if we feel your dog is not able to handle any of the
above special effects (ie, old age, stress, etc), we will advise
you of our decision to put your pooch first, over the pink hair!!!!
What if my
dog is aggressive towards the groomer or other dogs?
If you are aware of this aggressive behavior, please tell our
salon team when you call to make your appointment. When you arrive
for your appointment, we recommend that you wait until there are
no other pets in the reception area to check in for the safety
of your pet and other pets in the salon. We will make sure your
pet is never near any other pets - to ensure their safety and
the safety of others. If your pet is aggressive toward one of
our salon staff, we will notify you, when you come to pick up
your pet. We will explain the aggressive behavior and give you
or experienced opinion on the situation (ie, was it nails, ears,
etc). We will NOT turn away your dog, from his next appointment,
but we will work with you, to be sure we are all on the same page
on how to make your dogs experience a more relaxing one the next
time around. |
